Limited to 50 Participants
The National Cyber League (NCL) is the most inclusive, performance-based, learning-centered collegiate cybersecurity competition today!
The NCL, powered by Cyber Skyline, enables students to prepare and test themselves against practical cybersecurity challenges that they will likely face in the workforce, such as identifying hackers from forensic data, pentesting and auditing vulnerable websites, recovering from ransomware attacks, and much more!
Please Note: You will need your BSides Bloomington ticket purchase confirmation number to register for the CTF.
Greetings fellow security enthusiasts!
Are you ready to put your skills to the test in the exciting world of AppSec? Look no further than our upcoming Capture the Flag (CTF) event, launching on Oct 13th, 2023 and running until Oct 14th, 2023 at BSides Bloomington! With a number of challenges ranging from low to medium difficulty; you're sure to find something that will challenge your skills.
Of course, no CTF event would be complete without a team, so rally your friends and colleagues to join you in this adventure. The objective is simple: capture the flag and submit it through the CTF portal to score points.
Don't forget the rules of the game!
· You have 5 attempts to submit flags for each challenge, so use them wisely.
· Leave the brute forcing tools at home, as our CTF challenges are hosted on limited resources and running heavy tools may adversely affect their availability.
· Lastly, let's keep things fair and fun by refraining from any attempts to compromise the system by deleting, modifying, or updating the flag file or any other system file. You can reach out to Subramanya Shankar (subramanya.s@optiv.com), or Mayank Singh (mayank.singh@optiv.com) if you have issues accessing any of the CTF challenges.
Begin your journey by self-registering on our portal using your unique username and email address. Once registered, you will be presented with two paths: forge your own team and lead the charge or join forces with an existing team and dominate the competition together. The choice is yours but choose wisely.
So, gather your team, take note of the rules, and get ready for a thrilling CTF event. The winners will be determined by points, and in case of a tie, the team who scored those points in less time will emerge as the ultimate victors.
Created personally out of passion, the 1337Land CTF will challenge your skills in numerous ways through many levels of difficulty in application security, binary reverse engineering, and exploit development. Take on this challenge if you dare.
Registration will occur in-person at the OSINT Workshop on Friday October 13, 2023. No registration limit.
Laptop is required to participate.
Trace Labs is a Canadian based not-for-profit organization that uses responsibly crowd sourced Open Source Intelligence collection to augment a traditional missing person investigation. Since 2018, they have been educating new investigators, advocating for the value of Open Source Intelligence in the law enforcement community and applying physical Search and Rescue (SAR) principles to digital investigations. They’ve worked with law enforcement agencies across the globe to bring convergent volunteers together to combat the missing persons epidemic. As the problem scales, so must the solution.
Trace Labs will be onsite hosting a Search Party CTF during B-Sides Bloomington. This is a non-theoretical CTF that offers contestants the opportunity to put their investigative skills to good use in a safe and responsible way. The “CTF” will feature active missing persons cases that law enforcement has requested the public’s assistance with. The “flags” in this CTF are key pieces of intelligence that our LE partners have denoted as useful to their investigation. Teams of up to four people will compete to find these “flags” for the missing persons cases featured in the CTF. Intelligence collection is entirely passive and will consist mostly of sketching out a person’s online footprint. This is not only a great way to #OSINT4Good but also great experience in real world intelligence collection. More information about our CTFs can be found at: https://www.tracelabs.org/initiatives/search-party
