Our Board of Directors is comprised of Information Security professionals with experience in a wide range of areas including application security, offensive security, compliance, incident response, and global policy. The Board volunteers their time and meet frequently to organize and support BSides Bloomington.
Kaleb is a seasoned cybersecurity professional with over 14 years of experience in enterprise environments, specializing in incident response, network security, and compliance. Currently serving as a Senior Incident Response Engineer in Healthcare, Kaleb has a proven track record of spearheading incident response initiatives, orchestrating training sessions, and providing executive leadership with critical threat intelligence. He holds multiple certifications, including CISSP, GMON, and GCIH, and has been recognized as a SANS NETWARS Cyber Defense Coin Holder in 2019 and 2020. Kaleb is also an active member of the cybersecurity community, contributing as a public speaker and volunteer at various conferences.
Bill, a native of South Bend, Indiana, started his first Information Technology company at 16 providing support services to small businesses. Following his family in the Tool & Die industry, he became the Director of a local trade school at 19 teaching Computer Aided Drafting and Machining. Soon, he started a nationwide journey serving the Healthcare, Defense and Financial Technology communities as he moved from Indiana to Michigan, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Florida, California, Texas, Rhode Island and now back to Indiana. He now serves as CISO for Ultra Maritime, the world's premier provider of undersea warfare systems and products for 'five-eyes' and allied defense customers.
The Deputy CISO and Director of Information Security at the University of Notre Dame, Ian oversees operational security, participates in developing strategic initiatives, and oversees the university’s awareness program to support Notre Dame's academic mission. Ian has more than 12 years of experience in the cybersecurity and privacy field, and in that time has attained and maintained several industry-focused certifications including the CISM, CIPM, CISSP, GLEG, and GMOB. He also leverages his expertise and network to conduct peer assessments and provide consulting services for other higher education institutions through REN-ISAC. As a co-founder and operations officer of BSides Bloomington, Ian actively contributes to the security community. He is also a MOR Leadership graduate and a committed advocate for equity in the security and privacy community.
Sarah Fuller is an Information Security Analyst who currently serves as a Security Consultant for IBM. From her first experience of the InfoSec community, as a member and then President of her undergraduate alumni Cybersecurity Association, Sarah knew she had “found her people and her place.” She continues to jump in head-first by networking and interviewing established professionals, studying for industry certifications, and working hard to do her best where she stands. She is passionate about communication, community, and learning. Sarah contributes to the community through one-on-one mentorship, engaging and sharing with others online, and as co-founder for BSides Bloomington. Sarah transitioned from the role of Operations Officer to Secretary in 2024.
A cybersecurity graduate student at Johns Hopkins School of Engineering, medical laboratory scientist, and aspiring biohacker with a decade of healthcare education from Indiana University, Squid Refers to themselves as a cybersecurity hobbyist. They joined the infosec community in 2018 and quickly became involved volunteering and speaking at conferences on health information security and open-source intelligence. In undergrad, they founded the DEF CON Groups chapter, DC574, in South Bend, Indiana. Jay also has experience working as a desktop engineer, laboratory informaticist, and organizer for a small business that focuses on making technology solutions accessible for the Champaign-Urbana community in Illinois. They apply their art skills as the Graphic Designer and Creative Marketing and Communications Officer for BSides Bloomington.
Kim, an experienced information security professional with over 25 years of experience, is the Deputy CIO and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), where she leads initiatives in cybersecurity, identity protection, and privacy. Previously, she served for nine years as the Executive Director and CISO at REN-ISAC, her leadership in assisting research and education institutions defend against cyber threats is nationally recognized in the Higher Education community. She also held the title of Chief Privacy Officer at Indiana University from 2012 to 2014. Kim has previously presented on cybersecurity and incident management, and she has been featured as a keynote speaker for BSides Bloomington where she shared insights on finding a career in cybersecurity and seizing professional opportunities.
Tom is the director at Trace Labs, a non-profit organization that crowdsources open-source intelligence (OSINT) skills from the public to find information and clues on people in missing persons cases. Since 2018, they have been educating investigators, advocating for the value of OSINT in law enforcement and applying physical Search and Rescue (SAR) principles to digital investigations. Tom also hosts the Trace Labs Breadcrumbs podcast where he features fellow OSINT researchers and explores topics of interest. He currently works as a Threat Intelligence and Threat Hunting Teams manager at Kroger, and is the developer for People Detector, a python application that leverages a machine learning model to detect human-shaped objects in home surveillance. Tom has led the OSINT workshop at BSides Bloomington since the conference's first year.
